LAST TIME OUT

  • No. 21 Arkansas Women’s Basketball (10-1) finished its three-game homestand a perfect 3-0, handling Northwestern State, 99-39, at Bud Walton Arena on Sunday afternoon.
  • The Hogs 60-point win was their largest of the season, topping their 50-point victory over Tulsa on Wednesday night.
  • With their 10th win of the season, the Razorbacks are off to their best start since the 2016-17 season.
  • Redshirt junior Amber Ramirez led the way for the Hogs, pouring in 21 points on a season-high seven three-pointers.
  • Four other Razorbacks joined Ramirez in double-digits: Chelsea Dungee (12), Makayla Daniels (10), A’Tyanna Gaulden (11) and Erynn Barnum (14).

STORYLINES

  • Arkansas held steady in both polls this week. The Hogs are currently 21st in the AP Poll and 20th in the Coaches Poll.
  • Arkansas has been ranked for the first seven weeks of the season, the first time since the fall of 2002 that has happened for the Hogs.
  • A large part of Arkansas’ success is predicated on its Functionally Fast offense, which is currently the fourth-best attack in the country (86.2 PPG). The Hogs trail only Abilene Christian, DePaul, and Oregon.
  • An improving defense, and two blowout wins vs. Tulsa and vs. Northwestern State, has helped Arkansas secure the 10th-best point differential in the NCAA (+27.0)
  • The Hogs are off to a 10-1 start, matching the program’s best start to a season since the Hogs went 10-1 to start the season back in 2016.
  • The Hogs’ last two games have been arguably the team’s most dominant wins of the season.
  • They first beat Tulsa by 50.
  • The Hogs then turned around and beat Northwestern State by 60. It was their largest margin of victory since the Hogs beat Houston Baptist by 61 back in 2016 (12/28/16, 101-40).
  • Though Neighbors’ squads are not usually known for their defense, this team has been stifling in some important areas through the non-conference part of the 2019-20 schedule.
  • The Hogs actually lead the country in three-point percentage defense. Opponents are shooting just 19.0 percent from deep against the Razorbacks.
  • Arkansas didn’t allow Tulsa to make one of their 16 attempts from deep last Wednesday.
  • Neighbors’ bunch has been good on the defensive glass this season, too, averaging 31.7 defensive rebounds per game, the 10th-best mark in the NCAA.

TV NOTICE

  • Neither the women’s basketball game vs. Little Rock or the men’s basketball game vs. Valparaiso this Saturday will be televised on any network. The radio broadcasts are available on the respective men’s and women’s basketball Learfield IMG radio networks.
  • Games were not selected for television by one of the SEC’s broadcast partners
  • Due to the challenges of technology and staffing during the holiday break, the Razorback Sports Network does not have the infrastructure to independently produce a television broadcast from an off-campus venue
  • Because it is a game that falls within the SEC Network rights, it is not eligible to be broadcast by a third-party (i.e. Cox Sports Television, local etc.)
