Razorback Netters Open Fall in Wichita

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas opens its 2005 fall tennis schedule with three players traveling to Wichita, Kan., on Friday for the Wichita Intercollegiate Tennis Championship.

Junior Andrei Nicoara and sophomores Michael Jung and Jimmy Khougassian will compete in the event.

"I’m excited to get the fall season kicked off," Arkansas head coach Robert Cox said.

Nicoara, Jung and Khougassian each spent time in the Razorback lineup last spring, and will compete for spots in this season’s lineup. Nicoara went 5-8 in his sophomore campaign, while Jung went 11-11 and moved into the Hogs’ No. 4 slot midway through his freshman season. Khougassian joined the Razorbacks at the start of the spring semester and posted a mark of 1-13.

"We have a very deep team,” Cox said, “We can use the fall to see how the young guys develop and how well the returning, experienced guys come back."

The remainder of Arkansas’ 2005-06 roster includes seniors Rohan Gajjar, Matt Roberts and Adrians Zguns, redshirt freshmen Braden Burk and Brian Yanulis, and freshmen Jordan Custer, Branden Joost, Austin King, Drew Sosebee and Blake Strode.
