Razorback Tennis Concludes Navy Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Arkansas tennis finished the three-day Navy Invitational Sunday, earning both a singles and doubles victory at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

For the weekend, the Razorbacks were 5-3 in singles and 4-2 in doubles. The Hogs debuted three freshmen in Annapolis, each earning at least their first collegiate victory.

Freshman Jorge Villanueva gained the first win of his career Sunday, knocking off Saint Joseph’s Lucho Perez-Abreu, 6-1, 6-0. Classmate Dmitry Lebedev was defeated by Saint Joseph’s Matt Glasgow, 7-6(2), 6-2, while fellow newcomer Dmitry Vlaskin fell to SJU’s Phil Bayless, 7-6(2), 7-6(9).

Lebedev and Vlaskin were 2-1 for the weekend, while Villanueva was 1-2.

In Sunday’s doubles, Lebedev teamed with Oklahoma’s Sergey Avdeyev to cruise past Saint Joseph’s Glasgow and Matt Prusack, 8-0. Villanueva and Vlaskin were beaten by SJU’s Patrick Adams and Phil Garabedia, 8-6.

Arkansas continues their fall campaign Friday at theUT-Chattanooga Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn.
