Razorback volleyball at Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team is looking to regroup as they continue Southeastern Conference play at Tennessee Sunday. Arkansas (5-13, 2-6 SEC) suffered a three-set loss at Kentucky Friday while Tennessee (12-8, 5-4 SEC) picked up a win over Ole Miss. Sunday’s match airs live on KXUA, 88.3 FM in Northwest Arkansas and is available on-line at ArkansasRazorbacks.com. The Razorbacks took Saturday to relax as they drove the three hours from Lexington, Ky., to Knoxville before a late-afternoon practice in final preparation for the Lady Vols. “We had a good Saturday,” said Arkansas head coach Robert Pulliza. “It was a relaxing morning and then we really got after it at practice. The team was focused and it was a good workout before the match.” Although Arkansas is coming off a loss at Kentucky, the Razorbacks did a lot of things right that Pulliza hopes to transition into Sunday’s competition. “Our defense was better Friday,” he said. “We were able to hold off several set-points and did some really good things. We just need to put together a complete match with offense and defense.” The Razorbacks got 10 kills from senior Christina Lawrence as the Sullivan, Mo., native led the team offensively. She leads the team hitting .278 and is averaging 2.87 kills-per-game. Tennessee enters the match hitting .223 on the year and has a statistical advantage in nearly every category. Arkansas, however, has a 14-8 lead in the series and the teams split matches with the visitor winning each last season. Arkansas continues its road swing traveling to Ole Miss Wednesday prior to starting the SEC season over. The Razorbacks host Auburn, a team they defeated to start league play, Sunday, Oct. 26, in Barnhill Arena.
