Razorbacks’ 2024 SEC opponents set

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ 2024 Southeastern Conference slate will feature some old with a little new.

The Razorbacks will host LSU in the Battle for the Golden Boot, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas with road games at Auburn, Mississippi State and Missouri for the Battle Line Rivalry. The Hogs will meet Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium for the Southwest Classic.

In a series dating back to 1906, Texas and Arkansas have only met in Fayetteville in consecutive games once in 1929 and 1932. That will change when the Longhorns return to Razorback Stadium in 2024 after the Razorbacks won the last meeting 40-21 in the second game of the 2021 season that helped launch a nine-win campaign in Head Coach Sam Pittman’s second year. The Hogs and Horns met annually from 1932-91 as members of the Southwest Conference but have only played six times since 1991.

LSU and Arkansas will meet for the 70th time in 2024 and 33rd consecutive year since joining the league in 1992. The Rebels stay on the schedule for their 16th trip to Fayetteville in 2024. Tennessee makes a return trip to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium after playing in Fayetteville during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. The Hogs topped the Volunteers 24-13 in the last matchup between the once annual rivals.

Arkansas’s road games at Auburn and Mississippi State continue the annual series with both schools that started in 1992. The Battle Line Rivalry shifts to Columbia, Mo. in 2024 in a game that became annual beginning in 2014. The Hogs and Aggies will meet in Arlington, Texas for the 10th time since the Aggies joined the SEC.

Arkansas’ 2024 non-conference schedule kicks off in Little Rock at War Memorial for the second straight season with a game against UAPB on August 31. A trip to Oklahoma State the following week on Sept. 7 will be the first game between the Razorbacks and Cowboys since 1980 and the first matchup between the two schools in Stillwater, Okla. since 1978 when Lou Holtz’s squad began the season ranked No. 2 in the nation. A game against UAB at Razorback Stadium on Sept. 14 and a November date against Louisiana Tech round out the non-con portion of the Hogs’ schedule.

The 2024 SEC opponents were determined based on two primary factors: traditional opponents and balance of schedule strength.

Balance of schedule strength was based on each school’s conference winning percentage since the SEC’s last expansion in 2012. The winning percentages for the performance of Oklahoma and Texas in the Big 12 since 2012 were included in determining 16 positions ranked by winning percentage.

Each school’s schedule in 2024 will include four opponents – two home and two away – whose winning percentage ranked among the top eight conference winning percentages since 2012. Also, each school’s 2024 schedule will include four opponents – two home and two away – whose winning percentages ranked among the second eight conference winning percentages since 2012.

The complete 2024 SEC schedule with game dates will be announced later this year.
