Razorbacks Advance At ITA Regionals

STILLWATER, Okla. – All eight Arkansas men’s tennis players were in action Thursday at the ITA Central Regional Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma, as doubles and singles play got underway. One doubles team and three singles players won their respective matches and advanced to play Friday, joining three other singles players who received first-round byes in the tournament.

“It was another encouraging day for us,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “Our doubles teams played well, and Mike (Redlicki) and Jose (Salazar) are off a good start there as well. We are looking forward to getting back out there and competing tomorrow.”

Arkansas went a combined 3-3 in doubles matches, led by Mike Redlicki and Jose Salazar, who won their Round of 32 match after receiving a first-round bye. They will advance to the Round of 16 on Friday. The doubles teams of Johan den Toom and Branch Terrell, as well as Jacob Herndon and Austin Robles. each won their Round of 64 matches, before falling in the Round of 32.

In singles play, Arkansas won each of its first three singles matches, as den Toom and Juan Marino won in straight sets and Terrell defeated Oklahoma’s John Millstead in a three-setter. Marino has now won five straight singles matches this fall. That trio joins Redlicki, Salazar and Adam Sanjurjo, who received first-round byes to Friday’s Round of 64.

Singles play will continue tomorrow with the Round of 64 and Round of 32, beginning at 9 a.m. Doubles play will also continue with the Round of 16. A live stream will be available at okstate.com/watchtennis and results from all matches will be posted on okstate.com throughout the day.
