Razorbacks in Second After Round One

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – No. 18 Arkansas Women’s Golf came our firing on day one of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, shooting a 283 (-5) in the first round, trailing only the 282 (-6) shot by Wake Forest. The young Razorbacks were excellent on the back nine, birdieing a combined 14 holes between the four counting scores. The five-under round the Hogs shot today was the second-lowest of the season so far, as Head Coach Shauna Taylor’s crew carded a 280 (-8) in the final round of the Cougar Classic.

The true freshmen combination of Kajal Mistry (-3) and Ela Anacona (-2) was a lethal one for the Razorbacks on day one. Mistry’s 68 was the best single round score by a Razorback this season by two strokes, while Anacona’s 71 was her third round-under-par in her first four collegiate rounds. Both of Taylor’s supercharged freshmen are in contention atop the individual leaderboard, as Mistry is currently tied for second, while Anacona sits tied for tenth.

Redshirt sophomore Brooke Matthews and freshman Julia Gregg were the other two scores that counted for the Razorbacks on day one, as they both fired rounds at even par. Both Matthews and Gregg were over par on the front, but rallied on the back to get to even.

Senior Grace St-Germain, who was at one point tied for the lead, fired a 73 in round one.
