Razorbacks honored by Phil Steele

Several members of the Arkansas football team were selected to Phil Steele’s preseason All-American team and preseason All-Conference team, it was released on Thursday.

Head coach Bobby Petrino’s squad saw nine players selected as All-SEC performers and two named to Steeles’ preseason All-American teams.

Steele named quarterback Ryan Mallett and tight end D.J. Williams to the All-SEC First Team. Wide receiver Joe Adams was named to the All-SEC Second Team. Fellow wide receiver Greg Childs and Wade Grayson found spots on the All-SEC Third Team while offensive tackle DeMarcus Love was placed on the All-SEC Fourth Team.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Jerry Franklin found himself on the All-SEC Second Team with a trio of Razorbacks, defensive end Jake Bequette, defensive tackle DeQuinta Jones and linebacker Jerico Nelson, named to the All-SEC Fourth Team.

Steele also tabbed Williams as a First-Team All-American and Mallett as Second-Team All-American.
