Razorbacks host Morgan St.

FAYETTEVILLE — The Razorback men’s basketball team is coming off a hard fought 81-72 overtime victory over Appalachian State, and next on the schedule is Morgan State who pushed No. 20 Louisville to the brink on Sunday afternoon. The Razorbacks take on the Bears at Bud Walton Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 24, with a 7 p.m. tip.

Arkansas (2-1) used the inside-outside game of Marshawn Powell to pull out the victory against Appalachian State. Powell scored a career high 29 points in the win including five points to open the overtime period. While the true freshman did not get his third consecutive double-double (only seven rebounds), he is second on the team in scoring, averaging more than 20 points per game.

Morgan State (3-1) enters the game on the high of nearly upsetting Louisville at Freedom Hall, but came up nine-point short of their goal. The Bears had four players in double figures against the Cardinals led by DeWayne Jackson who tallied 21 points on 6-14 from the floor and 4-8 from three. The Bears’ three forward starting lineup accounted for 47 of their 81 points and 25 rebounds. Morgan St., did run into serious foul trouble in the contest as four starters fouled out.

The Morgan State game can be heard across the state of Arkansas on the Razorback Sports Network with Mike Nail and Rick Schaeffer giving the calls. Nail is in his 29th and final season as the play-by-play voice of the Razorbacks.

Looking past the Morgan State contest, Arkansas plays on Friday, Nov. 27 against East Tennessee State and Sunday, Nov. 29 against South Alabama to complete the holiday weekend.
