Razorbacks Tie for Second at Fighting Irish Classic

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Bolstered by four golfers finishing in the top 20 on the individual leaderboard, the Arkansas men’s golf team finished with a share of second place Tuesday at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic. The Razorbacks began the day in third place and ended the three-round event was a 21-over-par 861.

Junior Andrew Landry finished the event with a cumulative score of 215 and tied for eighth place, his 11th top-ten result as a Razorback and second of the year. David Lingmerth continued his solid start to the season tied for 11th place with a six-over-par 216. In the three events played this season, the sophomore has finished no lower than 16th.

Allen McFerran and Jason Turner were among a group of six golfers tied for the 18th spot on the leaderboard. McFerran used an even-par 70 during the final round to move 16 spots up the standings. Turner carded a one-over-par 71 on the day. Both golfers posted a tournament score of 218 (+8).

The best round of the day for the UA golfers belonged to senior Barrett Lais who fired a one-under 69 and rose eight spots to finish with a share of 45th place. The senior was one of just seven golfers (out of 75) to card a round in the 60s Tuesday during the final round.

No. 24 Michigan State held on to the lead it gained after the first two rounds and claimed the team title with a seven-over-par 847. The Spartans were led by Ryan Brehm who won the individual crown with a five-under-par 205. The Razorbacks shared second place with the team from No. 21 Lamar.
