@RazorbackSB Drops SEC Opener to No. 5 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Arkansas softball lost its Southeastern Conference opener Friday night at Tiger Park, falling 10-0 in five innings to No. 5 LSU. The Razorbacks had their nine-game winning streak snapped and drop to 12-8 overall, 0-1 SEC.

LSU remains unbeaten on the season at 23-0 and 1-0 SEC.

Arkansas will look to even the series against the Tigers Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. and the game will be available on SECN+ and the WatchESPN app.

The Razorbacks managed just a pair of hits against LSU starter Carley Hoover. Shelby Hiers slapped a two-out single in the first, and Autumn Russell reached on a base hit in the fifth. Hoover earned the win for LSU, pitching five scoreless and striking out nine.

Sydney Wright took the loss for Arkansas, sliding her record to 7-3, as she pitched 2.1 innings and gave up four earned runs. The Tigers only had two hits total in the first two innings, but erupted for four runs in the third and six in the fourth. Back-to-back triples followed by a two-run home run did the damage in the third, while two doubles, two singles and a pair of sacrifice flies tallied the runs in the fourth.
