Sanu Jallow-Lockhart improves UA 800m record, splits 50.19 on world-leading relay
FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback senior Sanu Jallow-Lockhart improved her Arkansas and Gambian 800m record by 0.01 of a second in winning the race in 1 minute, 59.76 seconds on the second day of the Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
The Razorback 4 x 400m relay delivered a world-leading victory and meet record of 3:25.82, which ranks No. 5 on the UA all-time list. Jallow-Lockhart supplied a 50.19 split on the third leg, which is the second fastest indoor third leg carry ever produced in the world.
Racing in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, at the Asics Sound Invite, Sydney Vaught was the top collegian in her section of the 3,000m as the placed fourth in 8:49.47, which ranks her No.2 on the UA all-time list by Peyton Noe and ahead of Dominique Scott and Lauren Gregory.
Vaught improved her previous best of 8:55.19 set earlier this season.
Jallow-Lockhart, who set the previous UA record of 1:59.77 in 2025, led from the start and held off the challenge by Arkansas alum Shafiqua Maloney, the runner-up in 1:59.82 and meet record holder at 1:58.69 from 2024.
Honor Finley finished third in 2:01.62 and Razorback freshman Makenna Herbst placed fourth in the section and sixth overall with a 2:03.40, which ranks No. 11 on the UA all-time list.
Producing splits of 27.06, 30.02 (57.08), 31.42 (1:28.50), and 31.26 generated the improved school record for Jallow-Lockhart. She ranks as the No. 5 performer with the No. 6 and No. 7 performances on the all-time collegiate list and joins LSU’s Michaela Rose as the only individual with a pair of performances among the top seven.
Arkansas bettered the previous 4 x 400m relay meet record of 3:26.27 set by Texas A&M in 2021, and just missed the Tyson facility record of 3:25.59 set the Razorbacks in 2024 that was anchored Jallow-Lockhart. They also knocked nearly two full seconds off the previous world best this season, a 3:27.65 set by Georgia at the Razorback Invitational.
The first two legs for Arkansas included Saira Prince (52.56) and Analisse Batista (50.67) while Sanaria Butler (52.40) anchored. Tennessee ran 3:29.47 as runner-up in the section with the Razorbacks. The second sections had times of 3:28.37 (Florida), 3:28.97 (Texas), and 3:29.21 (UCF).
The world best third leg split is 49.85 set by South Carolina’s JaMessia Ford in 2025 while the previous best by a Razorback was 50.57 from Rosey Effiong in 2023.
Among all indoor relay legs, Jallow-Lockhart ranks equal 20th while 18 of those marks were by the fourth leg. Among all indoor relay legs by collegians, Jallow-Lockhart is the No. 9 performer with the No. 12 performance all-time.
Maria Isabel Arboleda Angulo cleared 5-11.25 (1.81) to tie for third in the high jump. Josphine Mwaura clocked 4:44.60 in the mile to place sixth, just missing her PR of 4:44.00.
Madeleine Gear set a career best of 4:45.66 to place eighth in her section of the University mile. Bradley Weimer finished second in the 5,000m with a 16:54.65.
In the 200m, Razorbacks Asia Thomas and Ryan Jennings each ran 23.64 in separate sections while Taejha Badal posted a 23.82.
