Sara Melby joins Lady Razorback staff

FAYETTEVILLE — Sara Melby joins the University of Arkansas Women’s Athletics Department staff as an assistant athletic trainer for the 2005-06 athletic season. Melby will be working with both the women’s basketball and golf teams and will take on several training room duties at Arkansas as well. "I’m happy that Sara will be joining our staff," said Assistant Athletic Director Julie Cain. "I think she’ll be an excellent addition who will help solidify the already-strong quality of care for the Lady Razorbacks. Melby comes to Arkansas after a five-year stint at Marshall University where she worked with women’s basketball and softball along with administrative duties. During her tenure at Marshall, Melby coordinated insurance claims, served as the clinical supervisor of athletic training and graduate athletic training students, oversaw summer camps and coordinated physical examinations. In addition, she taught CPR and first aid classes and volunteered in teaching introduction to athletic training classes for the Thundering Herd. Prior to Marshall, Melby worked at the University of North Dakota serving as the student athletic trainer for softball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, football and women’s basketball. Melby earned the Marshall University Athletic Trainer of the Year award for the 2003-04 athletic season. She is also an approved clinical instructor, a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the West Virginia Athletics Trainers’ Association and is American Heart Association CPR and AED certified. Melby earned her bachelor of science in athletic training with a minor in psychology from the University of North Dakota in 1999 and completed her master’s in teaching at Marshall University in 2000.
