Spaight to Play in Reese's Senior Bowl

MOBILE, Ala. –  Senior linebacker Martrell Spaight accepted an invitation to participate in the 2015 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Jan. 25 in Mobile, Alabama. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. in Ladd-Peebles Stadium and will be nationally televised on the NFL Network.

The leading tackler in the Southeastern Conference, Spaight has tallied 123 total stops on the season, tying him for 17th nationally with an average of 10.3 tackles per game. Spaight’s 123 tackles is the most for a Razorback since Caleb Miller racked-up 133 tackles in 2003.

A native of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Spaight ranks No. 3 on the proficient Razorback defense with 8.5 tackles for loss and leads the team with two forced fumbles. The All-American candidate has played a role in four turnovers, recording one interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

After transferring to Arkansas his junior year, Spaight has made huge strides in his senior season, recording 101 more total tackles than in his junior campaign. The junior college transfer started just two games for Arkansas in 2013, but has started all 12 contests this season and led the Arkansas defense in tackles nine games this season.

Spaight and fellow Razorback senior defensive end Trey Flowers join a list of 62 former Razorbacks invited to the Senior Bowl, including former quarterback Matt Jones and fullback Peyton Hillis.
