John Daly II Wins Southern Amateur; Smith and Curry T3

Razorback rising senior John Daly II carded a final-round 68 to win the 119th Southern Amateur with a 72-hole total of 278 (-10) this week at The Blessings Golf Club. Also, Razorbacks Thomas Curry and Camden Smith tied for third, but Smith was officially awarded third place thanks to a scorecard playoff.

The Arkansas Razorbacks place 120 student-athletes on the 2024-25 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll as part of a total of 1,903 student-athletes across the league.

For a record-breaking fifth-consecutive year, Arkansas has earned a top-20 finish in the Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings. The Razorbacks ranked No. 5 in the Southeastern Conference and No. 11 overall in the final standings released on Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of America (NACDA).

Arkansas head coach Brad McMakin announced the addition of transfers Niilo Mäki-Petäjä and Camden Smith. The two will be juniors on the 2025-26 Razorback men’s golf team.

The 2024-25 season for Arkansas men’s golf came to an end after a seventh-place finish (852 / +12) at the NCAA Amherst Regional, played at the par 70 Popular Grove Golf Club. Individually, Mark Stockdale tied for sixth and Thomas Curry tied for 20th.

Due to heavy rain and lightning, round three of the NCAA Amherst Regional was suspended Tuesday after Arkansas played 3-to-6 holes. The Regional is set to resume on Wednesday at 6:30 am (CT).

Despite steady rain and conditions Razorback head coach Brad McMakin described as “horrible,”, the second round of the NCAA Amherst Regional was completed and Arkansas stands in sixth at +6 (566) with Mark Stockdale and Thomas Curry each among the top 10 individually.
