Team Posts 3.5 GPA During Spring Semester

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback volleyball team will go into the summer months celebrating combined successes in the classroom as the program posted a 3.5 grade-point average (GPA) during the spring semester. Arkansas also had two former student-athletes graduate last weekend with Hayley Koop and Samantha Skinner earning their undergraduate degrees with 63 past and current Razorbacks.

The Razorbacks’ most recent academic achievement comes on the heels of eight student-athletes being named to the 2014 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll. That list included Barbara Dapic, Blakelee Dunagin, Liz Fortado, Meredith Hays, Breana Jones, Ana Sofia Jusino, Savannah Voelzke and Adrien Wohlschlaeger. Dunagin, Jones and Bailee Hankenson were also named to the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists.

In what is considered the off season for the sport, the Razorbacks remained busy with a seven-match spring schedule and several community service projects. Arkansas closed out its spring schedule with a five-set road win at Missouri State followed by the Red-White scrimmage at Barnhill Arena. Among its community outreach efforts, the Razorbacks collected donated items and more than $1,400 to the benefit of the NW Arkansas Children’s Shelter.

The program will get additional exposure with former standouts Raymariely Santos and Janeliss Torres-Lopez and future Razorback Pilar Victoria suiting up for the Puerto Rico National Team. Beginning Wednesday night, Canada is set to host Puerto Rico for a two-match series as part of Calgary 2015, which is being billed as the country’s largest volleyball event.

Victoria is part of Arkansas’ 2015 recruiting class that also features Kimi Davis, Juliette Fidon, Fernanda Güitron and Okiana Valle. With its latest newcomers, the program is adding talents from in-state (Davis), France (Fidon), Mexico (Güitron) and Puerto Rico (Valle, Victoria). During the spring, the Razorbacks have also welcomed Sarah Rumely as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator and Allison Wack as director of operations.
