Wohlschlaeger Named SEC Setter of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On the heels of directing the Razorback offense to a .327 hitting percentage last weekend, junior Adrien Wohlschlaeger has been selected as the SEC Setter of the Week. Wohlschlaeger helped lead Arkansas to the team title at the Razorback Invitational and improved to 5-0 as the team’s starting setter. Overall, the Razorbacks have won six matches in a row and are 8-1 overall.

Wohlschlaeger averaged 12.33 assists per set during Arkansas’ undefeated run through the Razorback Invitational. She tallied a career-high 44 assists in a straight-set win over UT Arlington that clinched the tournament title. The team hit at least .289 in each match last weekend, including a .366 mark against Southeast Missouri. Wohlschlaeger also matched her career high with five digs in Friday night’s sweep of Northwestern State.

Individually, the Conroe, Texas, native is up to fourth in the SEC with 11.26 assists per set. Wohlschlaeger has helped push the Razorback offense to third in the SEC with a .297 team hitting percentage. She has three hitters positioned within the top 10 in SEC rankings with Pilar Victoria second at 4.33 kills per set while Chanell Clark-Bibbs (.440) and Breana Jones (.407) are third and sixth, respectively, in hitting percentage.

The recognition for Wohlschlaeger is a continuation of accolades from this weekend’s Razorback Invitational. Victoria was named the tournament MVP after averaging 4.44 kills per set and 2.22 digs per set. Freshman Okiana Valle was tabbed as the Most Outstanding Libero while Clark-Bibbs and Liz Fortado both earned spots on the All-Tournament Team. Along with the team’s offensive prowess, the Razorbacks held their weekend opponents to a collective .004 hitting percentage.

Arkansas closes out its non-conference schedule Sept. 18-19 at the Creighton Classic in Omaha, Neb., where it is set to face No. 11 Wisconsin, Kansas State and host Creighton. The weekend marks the beginning of seven-straight matches against teams that played in last year’s NCAA Tournament. The Razorbacks’ next home match is Oct. 4 for their SEC home opener against No. 2 Florida.
