Women?s track returns to Drake Relays

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field will compete at the 100th running of the Drake Relays this weekend. Events will be contested Friday-Saturday, April 24-25, in Des Moines, Iowa. Expected to compete are the sprinters, hurdlers and horizontal jumpers.

Alabama, Baylor, Drake, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, No. 18 Minnesota, No. 24 Nebraska, Ohio State, Kansas, Texas, No. 22 UTEP and Wisconsin are also scheduled to compete in Des Moines.

Arkansas has won four Drake Relays titles over the years including a world leading 4×800-meter relay title in 2005. Arkansas has also won the 4×200-meter championship twice before and the 4×400-meter relay at Drake. The Razorbacks took two Drake Relays titles in 2007, the 4×200-meter and 4×400-meter relays.

Arkansas’ group of pole vaulters and thrower Angie Scott will compete at Missouri Southern at the MSSU Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Open Invitational. The pole vault will be contested at 2 p.m. Friday. Katie Stripling, Tara Diebold, Sarah Landau, Tina Sutej, Janice Keppler and Kristen Keith are expected to compete.
