FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 25 Arkansas men’s cross country team grabbed a top-five finish on its home course at the Chile Pepper Festival posting a score of 165-points Saturday morning at Agri Park.
Junior Matt Young led the way for the Hogs Saturday morning at Agri Park, finishing fourth overall and second among collegians. Arkansas’ Cameron Griffith and Gilbert Boit, both running unattached, finished first and second in times of 23:35.90 and 23:46.10, respectively.
Young posted a time of 23:51.20 over the 8-kilometer course, a lifetime-best at that distance. Following Young were teammates Carter Persyn (24:20.4), Preston Cates (24:20.7), Myles Richter (24:32.1), and Sam Boone (25:39.5) in 19th, 21st, 30th, and 113th-place, respectively, to round out scoring for the Razorbacks.
Next up for the Razorbacks will be a trip to preview the site of the 2019 NCAA Championships as Arkansas takes part in the Pre-National Invitational hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 19.
