Golf Club St. Leon Rot, Germany–Former University of Arkansas All-American Stacy Lewis and Team USA fell behind 2-4 against the Europeans in first round action at the 2015 Solheim Cup in Germany Friday.

Lewis, a The Woodlands, Texas, native, lost her first round match 3&2, but Team USA was square, 2-2, with Team Europe after the morning rounds.

Team USA trailed 2-0 in the afternoon foursomes when rain delayed the matches.  They were suspended due to darkness with two groups still on the course.

Match 4

Sandra Gal/Catriona Matthew win 3&2 over Stacy Lewis/Lizette Salas
A huge roar from her fellow Germans greeted Sandra Gal on the first tee and the native of Duesseldof, Germany gave them a lot to cheer for throughout her morning match.  It was the Americans who drew first blood thanks to a long par putt by Salas on the first hole but it would be the only lead they’d hold in the match. The match was all square at the turn but back-to-back birdies by the Europeans on the 10th and 11th gave them a 2 UP lead, which they would never relinquish. Salas sank a birdie putt on the par-3 15th to keep the Americans’ hopes alive, but it was Gal who created another roar when she sank a short birdie putt on the par-5 16th to close out the match with a 3&2 victory and the second point of the day for the Europeans.
