
Marin Chamberlin vaults to Mt. SAC Relays victory
WALNUT, Calif. – Generating another career best vault on consecutive days earned Razorback Marin Chamberlin a victory in the B section of the pole vault with a career best height of 13 feet, 5.25 inches (4.10) during Friday’s portion of the Mt. SAC Relays.
Meanwhile, in late night racing at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific, Sydney Thorvaldson set a career best over 5,000m as her time of 15:41.58 finished 10th in the first section and places her No. 7 on the UA all-time list.
Arkansas alum Logan Jolly raced in the same section of the 5,000m and set a career best of 15:29.08 in third place. That crushed the previous best for Jolly, who clocked 15:52.05 in April of 2022 at Stanford.
In the 800m Invite at the Bryan Clay meet, Arkansas alum Nikki Hiltz won in a career best of 1:59.03 over LSU’s Michaela Rose (1:59.08) and BYU’s Claire Seymour (2:00.04). The previous best for Hiltz was 2:00.27 from 2022.
Washington’s Ashleigh Helms matched Chamberlin’s winning height but needed two attempts to clear compared to one for Chamberlin. At the previous height of 12-11.5 (3.95), it was Helms with a one attempt make compared to two attempts for Chamberlin.
During competition in Long Beach on Thursday, Chamberlin had set a then career best of 13-3.75 (4.06).
In the A division of the pole vault, Mackenzie Hayward led a trio of Razorback vaulters, clearing 13-7.25 (4.15) to place ninth while Bailee McCorkle and Kaitlyn Banas tied for 10th place with a 13-1.5 (4.00) make.
Later sections of the 5,000m at Bryan Clay included Claire McCune finishing sixth in the third section with a career best of 16:13.20 while Julia Paternain finished third in the fourth section at 16:14.51.
