No. 3 @RazorbackWGolf Second In Final Fall Event
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The third-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team wrapped up fall competition with a second-place finish at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, Tuesday.
The Razorbacks shot 294-291-285=870 for a nine-stroke edge over the third-place team. Arkansas battled weather and a solid field but the top-three finish was the fourth in four events this fall for the Razorbacks.
Regina Plasencia paced Arkansas through the first two rounds of play with rounds of 71-70 but a 77 in the final round moved her out of the top-10 into a tie for 12th play shooting 218. It was the senior’s fourth top-15 finish of the fall.
Junior Samantha Marks went low for Arkansas with a final round 69, her best single round score of the season. The Maitland, Florida, native posted a season-best tie for 18th shooting 219 for the three-round event.
Sophomore Alana Ureill and junior Summar Roachell were both below par shooting 71s in the final round. Ureill finished with 220 and tied for 23rd while Roachell shot 221 and tied for 27th overall.
Freshman Cara Gorlei rounded out the Razorback scores. The Cape Town, South Africa, native posted a 230 and was tied for 59th.
Arkansas finished the fall behind No. 16 Florida who won the tournament leading wire-to-wire and finishing with an 858. Arkansas defeated one team in the top-15, five in the top-50 and placed better than three other SEC teams.
