Razorback Volleyball To Serve Up Four-Straight at Barnhill

FAYETTEVILLE – Hogs fans are in for a treat over the next two weeks as the Razorbacks host four consecutive home matches in Barnhill Arena. The Arkansas volleyball team (6-18, 2-10) starts the home-stint with the Tennessee Volunteers on Wednesday evening and continues weekly play against Alabama on Sunday afternoon.

From Coach Watson

On returning to Barnhill:

“It’s good to be home. I miss our band, they bring a lot of key energy to Barnhill.  We are a team that’s looking to end the season better than we started. This four-match home stand is so important for us.  Our crowd, those that have been loyal to our program for years, they are who we long to play well in front of and mean so much to our athletes.”

On capitalizing on tough road trips:

“Competing on the road in tough venues serve to further confirm that preparation and attention to details are important.  Difficult lessons to learn, but they need to be learned as we look to better our performances.”

On preparing for Tennessee:

“Tennessee is as physical a team as we’ll have played this season.  When we look at their team, we know we need to be disciplined and stay on tendencies.  Relentlessly going at specific serving targets will also be key.”

When comparing Arkansas’ schematics to Tennessee’s:

“It’s a hard comparison.  Ideally, we are wanting to push quick and be a little faster to our outside hitters.  A lot of factors are needed for that to be possible.  We are going to need to pass a lot better than we have.”

On looking ahead to Alabama on Sunday:

I think anytime we are able to play and prepare for an opponent to come to Barnhill is a great deal.  We definitely like the challenge of this match up.  A lot has changed since we last played.”

Arkansas volleyball fans have a lot to look forward to over the next couple of weeks, as the Hogs host the Tide for Girl Scout Appreciation Day and the annual toy drive. Fans can bring a new toy and gain free admittance to the match. Participating girl scouts from northwest Arkansas will also have the opportunity to participate in fun activities and have the chance to leave with three new patches.
