Razorbacks Fall to Vanderbilt in DH Finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – No. 5 Vanderbilt used a five-run fifth inning Saturday evening to break open a one-run game and pick up a 9-1 victory over the University of Arkansas baseball team at Hawkins Field.

Arkansas’ lone run came in the fourth inning when Andrew Benintendi unloaded on his fifth home run of the year, a monster solo shot to right field to cut the Commodore lead in half and make it 2-1.

Vanderbilt broke the game open with five runs in the fifth frame, before adding two more in the sixth inning to earn the victory.

Jonah Patten had a stellar outing in relief, tossing 3.0 innings and giving up just three hits and no runs, while striking out four. Dominic Taccolini (3-2) suffered the loss in 4.2 innings of work.

The Razorbacks and Commodores will play the series finale Sunday afternoon at Hawkins Field with first pitch scheduled for noon on SEC Network Plus and the WatchESPN App.
