
Razorbacks qualify for Olympic Trials semifinals
EUGENE – Qualifying rounds had a dozen athletes with Arkansas ties advancing to semifinals during Thursday’s action at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Field.
Tara Davis-Woodhall led the long jump qualifying round with a leap of 22-9 (6.93) on her lone attempt to reach the final.
The women’s 400m hurdle crew all advanced to the semifinal by posting the 2-3-4-5 fastest times in the opening round behind a 53.07 for Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.
Razorback Rachel Glenn won her section in 55.03 while Dalilah Muhammad finished second in 55.51. Anna Cockrell claimed her heat in 54.71 while Shamier Little posted a 54.93 to win another heat.
Advancing in the 1,500m and racing in the same heat were Nikki Hiltz and Stephanie Brokaw. Hiltz placed third with a 4:16.00 while Brokaw ran 4:16.33 to finish sixth.
The 200m had a trio advancing with Brittany Brown winning a heat in 22.29 while Jada Baylark finished fifth in 23.20. Rosey Effiong placed sixth in another heat with a 22.98.
Lance Lang finished fourth in his heat of the 200m prelims with a 20.49 as Noah Lyles claimed the heat in 20.10, the fastest time in the opening round.
Khalliah Rosser finished second in a heat of the 400m hurdles with a time of 49.93 that ranked fourth best overall.
The lone final involving Razorbacks was the women’s 3,000m steeplechase where Logan Jolly placed 10 in 9:26.32 while Krissy Gear did not finish. The top nine finishers all set career best times. Valerie Constien set a meet record with her 9:03.22 victory.
Elijah Morris finished eighth in his semifinal heat of the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.54. After setting a career best of 13.07 in the prelims, Jamal Britt placed fifth in his heat with a 13.32. The last time qualifier to the final was 13.27.
Kason O’Riley was one of seven jumpers to miss the opening height of 7-0.25 (2.14) in high jump qualifying. Two jumpers advanced to the final with a first attempt clearance of 7-0.25.
Jamaica National Trials
Razorback Nia Robinson finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 20-8.5 (6.31). Andrenette Knight posted the second fastest time in the prelims of the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.09.
