Track Capital #NewHogs Summer Series: Carlton Orange

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas signee Carlton Orange was recently voted as the MileSplit National Male Performer of the 2015 USATF Junior National Championships. Orange received 644 votes for his 1:47.67 performance which earned him the victory in the 800-meter run at Hayward field.

“Running a PR, making a national team, and being with some of my best friends was an invigorating experience,” Orange said.

Orange is one of Arkansas’ multiple signees this year whose high school performances are comparable to current top-ranking collegiate times or marks.

The Tennessee native has been attracting national attention for his 800-meter times since his freshman year at Memphis University School. In his quest to select the best program to continue his development Orange took on the top youth runners in the nation at various prominent meets including the Mt. SAC Relays to showcase his talents to track and field’s best colleges and universities.

“Arkansas, of course is one of the best track and field teams in the nation and they definitely outclassed any of my other college choices,” Orange said regarding his selection process. “Additionally, the Walton College of Business has a history of successful job placement to those that graduate. It was a win-win scenario.”

Prior to his most recent success at the USATF Junior National Championships, Orange collected victories in the 800-meter run at the Nike Festival of Miles and the Sugar Bowl Classic. He also won the 400-meter dash at the Tennessee Division 2 Championships in a time of 48.07.

He will represent team USA at the 2015 Pan Am Junior Championships on July 31 – Aug. 2 in Edmonton, Canada.
