Hogs split in Honolulu
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks opened the second half of the season with a split in Thursday’s double-dual meet with Hawaii and Harvard in Honolulu by a score of 106-99 to defeat Hawaii and dropping the matchup with Harvard 142-63 bringing the Hogs’ record to 6-4.
Bella Cothern notched two individual event wins, winning the 50 Free with a 23.22 swim and the 100 Free with a 51.21 finish. Reka Rohacs and Sydney Craft placed 2nd and 3rd in the 1000 Free, and both Craft and Rohacs followed up this performance with 3rd and 4th-place finishes in the 500 Free, respectively. Rebecca Simpson posted a 2nd-place finish in the 200 Free with a 1:51.62 finish. Delaney Harrison finished 3rd in the 200 Fly, clocking in at 2:04.31. Ashley Morton swam her way to a podium finish in the 200 Back, placing 3rd. The Hogs battled to a 2nd-place finish in the 200 Free Relay to cap off the contest.
Maria Jose Sanchez took home the win in both springboard events. In 3-meter, she dove to a score of 331.65, outscoring the rest of the competition by a margin of 16 points. Lauren French was the next-highest scoring Razorback, diving to a 301.45 mark in 5th-place. Sanchez won 1-meter by just shy of 10 points, flipping and twisting her way to a final score of 294.60. Both of Sanchez’s scores were NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores.
The Razorbacks will be back in action on January 16 as they travel to Knoxville and take on SEC opponent Tennessee at 12:00 PM.
