Razorbacks Battle to Third Place Finish in Iowa Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks rounded out the Iowa Invite with a handful of strong swims. Maria Jose Sanchez posted her second stellar performance of the day on platform, posting a score of 329.25, the second-highest platform score in school history. The Razorbacks finished the Iowa Invite in 3rd place with a point total of 1187.

In the 200 Back, Rebecca Simpson finished 4th with a time of 1:59.78. freshman Ashley Morton has distinguished herself in backstroke events and posted a solid 12th-place finish with a time of 2:00.51. Bella Cothern swam to a stellar 2nd-place finish in the 100 Freestyle, finishing in 49.03, an NCAA B-cut time. Delaney Harrison posted a 7th-place finish in 49.77 seconds to round out a really tight competition in the A-Final. Bara Matoskova swam a 50.87 100 Freestyle, finishing 13th overall.

Bradi Jones finished 8th in the 200 Breast A-Final with a time of 2:16.03. Holly Robinson rounded out her third consecutive night of finals action with a 12th-place finish and a time of 2:16.51. Eleonora Camisa had a fantastic swim in the 200 Butterfly, finishing 2nd in 2:00.71. The Razorbacks rounded out the meet with a victory in the 400 Freestyle Relay, swimming to a 3:17.72 time.

Razorback Divers had a field day on platform. Maria Jose Sanchez followed her record-breaking performance in the prelims with an equally impressive 329.25, the second-highest score in school history. Sanchez won the event and capped off a historic weekend on the boards. Isa Perreira also competed in the A-Final and dove to a score of 264.40 which was good for 4th place. Freshman Kanah Pumphrey put up a solid performance in the B-Final, scoring 224.10 and diving to a 10th-place finish.

The Iowa Invite caps off the action for the Razorbacks this fall. They will compete again on Thursday, January 9th in sunny Hawaii as they take on the University of Hawaii and Harvard.
