Two Hogs+ films nominated for Mid-America Emmys
Fayetteville, Ark. – Two Hogs+ original films – 100 Seasons of Arkansas Basketball and Do You Believe in Fairy Tales – have been nominated in the 47th annual Mid-America Emmy Awards.
100 Seasons of Arkansas Basketball is a three-part series celebrating the foundations of the Razorback Men’s Basketball program, and Do You Believe in Fairy Tales tells the story of the 1998 Razorback Women’s Basketball team who against all odds went on a Cinderella run to the Final Four in the NCCAW Tournament. Both were honored with a nomination for the Emmy award in their respective categories.
The films are just two of a collection of original stories produced by Hogs+ around the University of Arkansas athletic department programs. Both series were directed by Hogs+ Producer Haley Ordway, whose work also includes Why Not You – The Lance Harter Legacy and additional features for Hogs+. Ordway’s newest documentary premiering on Hogs+ this fall, Resurgence, is an hour-long documentary chronicling the culture-changing run of the 1998 Arkansas football team.
With a total run time of 80 minutes, 100 Seasons of Arkansas Basketball spans the earliest days of the program at Schmitty’s Barn to the arrival of the Muss Bus. Featuring in-depth looks at the Sutton Era, the Rollin’ with Nolan days, the run to the 1994 national championship, and more, the documentary includes new interviews and commentary from more than 15 of the biggest names in program history, including Nolan Richardson, Sidney Moncrief, Joe Kleine and Scotty Thurman.
In 1998, the Arkansas women’s basketball team earned a 9-seed in the NCAA Tournament. This 40-minute film tells the story of its Cinderella run to the program’s first and only Final Four. Twenty-five years later, that team is still the lowest seed to ever make it to the semifinals in the women’s sport.
