4x4 improves at Florida Relays

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On a day filled with relays, the Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field team made a big improvement in an important event on day two of the Florida Relays, in Gainesville, on Saturday.

The 4×400-meter relay clocked an improved regional-qualifying time with a seventh-place finish in the event. The quartet of senior Courtenay Brown, sophomore Shelise Williams, freshman Whitney Jones and senior Janine Davis combined for a time of 3:39.56. The time currently ranks 12th nationally and third in the SEC.

Earlier in the day Arkansas’ 4×200-meter relay picked up a 10th-place finish. Junior Karen Thomas, Jones, freshman Courtney Blair and senior Etienne Chaplin combined for a time of 1:36.94.

In the sprint medley relay, the quartet of Brown, Jones, Williams and Davis clocked a time of 3:57.50, with a 51.21 400-meter split from Williams, good for a seventh-place finish.
