Basketball returns to central Arkansas; Lady'Backs face NSU at Hot Springs

FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas Lady Razorback basketball team returns to the court after the final exam period break to face Northwestern State in the team’s annual central Arkansas game.

Undefeated Arkansas, 9-0, takes on Northwestern, 4-5, at 6 p.m. at the Summit Arena in Hot Springs. The game will be carried live on Cox Sports Television. CST is on channel 119 in the northwest Arkansas area.

Tom Collen rides the longest winning streak to open the regular season, and his team is receiving votes in both the writer’s and coach’s polls.

Last week’s SEC Player of the Week, Lauren Ervin, leads the Lady’Backs against a young Lady Demon squad. Ervin averages 15.3 ppg and 10.3 rpg after the first nine games of the year.

The game is the fourth for Arkansas at Hot Springs, and the Lady’Backs are undefeated in the three previous contests at Summit Arena. Northwestern was the first team to face Arkansas at Hot Springs back in 2003, and the Lady Demons fell to Arkansas, 78-62.

After the game, the Lady’Backs will have an autograph session with fans before returning to Fayetteville Thursday night to prepare for two home games at Walton Arena before the holiday break, starting Saturday with St. Louis at 2 p.m.
