Brown Stewart honored for service
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Courtenay Brown and senior Mychael Stewart, members of the Arkansas Razorback track and field teams, were named to the Southeastern Conference’s Community Service Team, it was announced Tuesday.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community in superior service efforts.
Brown’s community service efforts include being a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) (2007-09), signing autographs and taking pictures with local Boy Scouts on campus and helping clean and pick up trash on Stadium Drive with the SAAC Adopt-A-Street Program. The Jacksonville, Ark. native also participated in the Book Hogs Reading Program at local elementary schools and Christmas shopping with local children at Toys-R-Us with SAAC.
Stewart is a member of the SAAC (2007-09), has signed autographs and taken pictures with local Boy Scouts on campus and attended Thanksgiving Dinner at Homestyle Assisted Living Center. The Bentonville, Ark. native has also served volunteer hours by helping clean and pick up trash on Stadium Drive with the SAAC Adopt-A-Street Program, has participated in the Book Hogs Reading Program at local elementary schools and did Christmas shopping with local children at Toys-R-Us with SAAC.
