Hogs continue at Razorback Classic
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.
— The University of Arkansas tennis team grinded the baseline Saturday, at the Razorback Classic held at the George M. Bilingsley Tennis Center and DillsIndoor Stadium. The chilly weather did not stop the Razorbacks, boasting a 19-5 record in both singles and doubles for the tournament.

Arkansas duo Nicholas Spinnazze and Nikolas Zogaj started the Razorbacks winning run with a comeback win over Alastair Barnes and Patrick Collins of Tulsa. The Arkansasduo was down four games but overcame their opponent to win the match, 9-7. Razorback players and fans cheered the doubles team of Bradwin Williams and Taylor Kingin a heated battle against Tulsa’s James Seagraves and Rusty Turpin. The match game down to a heart wrenching tiebreaker. William’s firepower at the net was too much tohandle and the Arkansas duo defeated Seagraves and Turpin of Tulsa, 9-8(4).
“We had another solid day of tennis,” Head coach Robert Cox Said. “They were tested out there but our players continue to do it right.”
King earned his title as Captain in singles play defeating Tulsa’s James Seagraves, 7-5, 6-1. He continued to control the courts with a win over Pier Peiraccianni of TJC,6-1, 6-1.
“Taylor was a leader today and played phenomenal tennis,” Head coach Robert Cox Said. “He battled and demonstrated to his teammates what it takes to win.”
Williams took time away from the competition and defeated Barnes of Tulsa, 6-4, 6-3. In the third round of singles play, Williams fell to Mario Jakovljevic of TJC instraight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
“Bradwin fought hard and played solid tennis against quality opponents," Cox Said.“The seniors really stepped up and I am proud of the way they played.”
Singles play continued as Nicholas Spinazze fought in a tough match against Tulsa’s Patrick Collins. Collins defeated Spinazze, 6-3, 6-0. He returned confident anddefeated Colby Meek’s of TJC, 6-3,6-3. Fellow teammate Nikolas Zojag lost to Tulsa’s Rusty Turpin, 6-4,6-4, and Gianomarco Velez of TJC, 6-3, 6-2.
The Razorback’s success continued on the doubles court for the unstoppable Arkansas duo of Spinazze and Zogaj. They defeated TJC’s Meek and Bishop, 8-3. Zogajand Spinazze were undefeated on the doubles court with a 4-0-tournament record. King and Williams fought hard but lost to the duo Jakovljevic and Pieracciani of TJC, 8-6.
“ I am very pleased with our team’s overall success today,” Cox Said. “ Zogaj and Spinazze are tough competitors in doubles and came up with the win in some great matches.”
It was bit cold on the courts on Saturday but conditions are expected to warm up Sunday and the sunny weather is predicted to welcome the players to the courts. Tennis actionwill resume Sunday morning in doubles with first serve at 9a.m. Central time. Singles matches will immediately follow.
