Izzo named NCAA ITF National Athlete of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Razorback distance runner Katie Izzo was tabbed as the Division I NCAA ITF National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday afternoon. The Seal Beach, Calif. native is the third Razorback on the women’s side to be named National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season in the past four years (Payton Chadwick – 2019; Lexi Weeks – 2017).

Izzo dropped the second fastest 5000-meter time in collegiate indoor history this past weekend at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston. Her 15:13.09 lowered the program record by an amazing 33 seconds, surpassing Amy Yoder Begley’s time of 15:46.89 set in 2000.

During the fall cross country season, the SEC individual champ helped Arkansas win the program’s first-ever NCAA Championship led by her third-place finish.
