McCurdy leads as Arkansas moves up

Jump to second roundresults FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas senior Amanda McCurdy is tied for the lead after second round action at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Classic as the Lady Razorbacks climb up the leaderboard in Knoxville, Tenn. The El Dorado, Ark., native had just one birdie in the round but finished with a three-over 74 (70-74) for a 144 and a tie with Georgia’s Whitney Wade who carded a 72 (71-73) Saturday. Arkansas moved up three spots to a tie for third in the talented field shooting a second-day 299 for a 599. Number six Purdue leads the field at 589 followed by fourth-ranked Georgia with a 590. Arkansas, ranked third in the most recent poll, is tied with the Swedish Junior National team with the host Tennessee in fifth with a 606. Tulane and Michigan State are tied for sixth overall, ahead of North Carolina, Penn State and Southern Mississippi who round out the top 10. “It was again a bit of a struggle today,” said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. “I don’t feel we’ve played our best golf but we have another shot at it tomorrow” McCurdy leads the field and the Lady’Backs at the Cherokee Golf Club. Senior Courtney Mahon is tied for 12th overall checking in with a one-over 73 for a 149 (76-73). Sophomore Stacy Lewis is tied for 15th overall with a 150 (75-75), followed by sophomore Ashley Medders who is tied for 46th with a 156 (79-77). Senior Lindsey Hinshaw rounds out the “counting” five and is 64th overall with a 162 (79-83) while senior Sarah Trew, competing as an individual, is tied for 46th with 156 (79-77).
