No. 6 Women’s Golf Heads to the Desert for MountainView Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 6 Arkansas women’s golf team is set to head out west for the MountainView Collegiate from March 15-17. Arkansas is coming off its fourth top five finish of the season and is looking to build on that momentum at The Preserve Golf in Tucson, Arizona.

The tournament is three rounds and 54 holes from Friday through Sunday on the par 72, 6,345-yard course. The teams will tee off at 9:45 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and will have a shotgun start on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. CT.

Arkansas will play in its third straight MountainView Collegiate, fourth overall. The Hogs have had two individual medalists at the MountainView Collegiate, including current Hog Kajal Mistry, who won the tournament in 2022 with a 10-under 206 (68-67-71). The MountainView Collegiate marks Arkansas’ seventh tournament of the season and fourth during the spring slate.

The Hogs are one of 15 teams in the field, which is composed of four SEC teams and seven ranked inside the top 50 in the latest Scoreboard Powered by Clippd rankings. Arkansas is the highest ranked team in the field at No. 6 followed by No. 17 Texas A&M.

Kendall Todd is No. 1 in the lineup, coming off a career best at Arkansas with a 1-under 212 (71-74-67) to finish in a tie for ninth at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The finish marked her second top 10 showing and fourth top 20 finish of the season, while the 67 tied a career-low round and was her first round in the 60s at Arkansas. This season, Todd holds a 72.41 scoring average and nine rounds at par or better, both the third best on the squad.

Maria José Marin is No. 2 in the lineup. José Marin tied for 19th with a 2-over 215 (70-74-71) at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate for her sixth top 20 finish of the season. The freshman is coming into Arizona ranked No. 1 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd individual rankings, as well as 18th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. She leads Arkansas with a 70.65 scoring average, 13 rounds at par or better, five rounds in the 60s and 206 pars. José Marin is a three-time SEC Freshman of the Week and one of 15 on the ANNIKA Award Spring Watch List.

At No. 3, Miriam Ayora will make her seventh tournament appearance during her senior season. Ayora is ranked No. 49 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd individual rankings and is coming off a tie for 28th with a 3-over 216 (72-75-69) at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. She leads the team with 64 birdies and has the second-best scoring average (72.12), rounds at par or better (12) and rounds in the 60s (2). Ayora also has one top five finish, which came at the Blessings Collegiate, and two top 20 showings.

Reagan Zibilski is also making her seventh tournament appearance during her sophomore campaign. She is coming off a tie for 54th with an 8-over 221 (71-77-73) at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Zibilski holds a 73.82 scoring average and has logged nine rounds at par or better with three top 20 showings, highlighted by a tie for 11th with Todd at the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic with a 2-under 214 (72-72-70).

Ela Anacona wraps up the lineup in Tucson, making her sixth tournament appearance, fourth in the lineup. She is coming off a tie for 66th with an 11-over 224 (78-72-74) at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Her best showing was at the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic, in which she placed 10th with a 3-under 213 (71-71-70) as an individual. This season, Anacona has a 73.07 scoring average with six rounds at par or better. She is ranked No. 87 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd individual rankings.

Giovanna Fernandez will play at The Preserve as an individual. She will make her third tournament appearance as an individual this season, in which she has a 76.00 scoring average. At the Diamante Intercollegiate, Fernandez logged a tie for 39th with a 3-over 219 (70-74-75). This tournament marks the 11th appearance of her career.

The Hogs will play one more tournament in the spring before postseason, as Arkansas will travel to Ardmore, Oklahoma to play in The Bruzzy at Dornick Hills from Saturday, March 30 to Sunday, March 31. The tournament is hosted by North Texas.
