Razorbacks prepared to meet Tide

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Razorback football team practiced inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium for one and a half hours on Thursday afternoon as it prepared for its first road game of the season, a Saturday afternoon clash with SEC rival Alabama. Arkansas and Alabama are set to face off at 2:30 p.m. central at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.; television coverage for the game is CBS. The following is a brief transcript of head coach Bobby Petrino’s press conference following Thursday’s workout.

How would you sum up the week of practice"It’s been good. The guys have had a great attitude; they’ve come out and worked hard. Tuesday and Wednesday practices were hard work, very physical. I think that our guys have reacted well. We cut it back today and they were pretty sharp, we didn’t have very many mistakes; the enthusiasm is good and we are looking forward to the challenge."

Will Ray Dominguez and Anthony Oden play on Saturday"Yes, they will both play. I think that it will happen for sure that we’ll play them both, keep them both fresh, keep them both mentally fresh and limit their mistakes."

Challenge of going against a Nick Saban defense"They are really good on defense. They have really good players and a great scheme. They challenge you and try not to give up anything easy. They make you earn it and have great schemes to attack your protection. I have a tremendous amount of respect for what they do defensively."

How was Ronnie Wingo Jr.’s week of practice"He’s had a good week of practice; he got a lot of work in as did Knile [Davis]. We need to get the running game going. The more you can run the ball the more pressure you can take off throwing it. I know that we’ll see them both in there."

Did you do any wet ball practices"No, we didn’t do anything like that. The good thing is last week we practiced twice in the rain and did it a couple times during camp when it was coming down fairly hard. We wanted to make sure we went outside; I know that the forecast calls for it. We have been in it five or six times since we’ve been together this fall."
