Rice Earns All-SEC Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Graduate student Tatum Rice was selected to the First Team All-SEC as announced by the Southeastern Conference office on Thursday.

The Hot Springs, Ark. native has had an impressive season as a Razorback, earning SEC Player of the Week earlier this year after clinching the match win over Vanderbilt. Rice has accumulated a 12-9 record in singles at the No. 1 position for Arkansas, going 8-8 against nationally-ranked opponents this season. In four straight SEC matches, including taking down No. 80 Antonaki to clinch the win over Mississippi State and over No. 16 Branstine of Texas A&M.

In the latest ITA Rankings, Rice comes in at No. 65 in singles helping lead Arkansas to its most conference wins since 2009. In doubles, Rice and partner Morgan Cross come in at No. 52, posting a 12-6 record at the No. 1 position. The duo has been dominant all season, winning seven straight doubles points for the Razorbacks in seven straight wins.

The First Team All-SEC is comprised of a combination of ITA rankings and a vote of the coaches. The top-ranked doubles team and the top 8 ranked singles players (not parts of the top doubles team) are automatically named and the two remaining spots are filled based on the coaches’ votes.

The Razorbacks await news of their postseason destination as the NCAA Selection Show will air on Monday, May 2 at 5:30 CT on NCAA.com.
