Third SEC Runner of the Week honor for Lauren Gregory

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arkansas senior Lauren Gregory earned the SEC Runner of the Week honor for the third time this season, following her runner-up performance in Florida State’s Pre-National Invitational.

With a time of 19:47.7, Gregory produced the seventh-fastest collegian time ever on the Apalachee Regional Park course over a 6,000m distance, which is currently the fastest in the SEC this season by 20 seconds.

Gregory closed with a 3:15.5 over the final 1,000m having led the field of 246 at 5,000m in 16:32.3 after being in fifth place at 4k (13:13.6) and seventh at 3k (9:54.4).

Running in three races this fall, Gregory won the Missouri Opener (16:54.4, 5k) as Arkansas produced a perfect score of 15 points. In Oregon’s Bill Dellinger Invitational (20:06.9, 6k), Gregory was the leading Razorback in placing second overall and finishing as the top collegian among a field of 179.

Next week Gregory will contest her fifth SEC Championship in cross country. She has finished among the top 10 four consecutive years, highlighted by a bronze medal finish in 2018.
