Tuesday practice report

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Razorback football team returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon for a workout inside Walker Pavilion. Following practice, defensive coordinator Willy Robinson spoke with the media.

On this week’s practices:

"It’s been good for us. We have been productive. There’s no hesitation because we are familiar with each other. Our offense does a great job of giving the defense issues and problems in the passing game. We shouldn’t see anything that we haven’t seen before."

On Malcolm Sheppard’s post season honors:

"I think those awards are great for Malcolm. He deserves it. We are always shooting for the first team but there is a tremendous group of tackles in this conference. His productivity is why he was mentioned as a second-team guy. What Malcolm had to overcome this year was that there was no more unknown. He was getting doubled quite a bit, regardless of where we lined him up at. I don’t think he was quite as productive or quite where he needed to be like he was last year. But he was still a guy other teams had to account for, both in the running game and the passing game."

On what the defense is focusing on in practice:

"We just have to refine and make sure we are good at what we do and do it fast. We want to keep it simple and do it faster."

On Adrian Davis:

"Adrian supplied us with great leadership this year. I thought he was very sound and solid this season. I thought he became a two-way player, run and pass. Last year, he was more pass oriented. I think he became a solid run defender this year."

On Tenarius Wright:

"He’s going to be a really good, young football player. As he grows into the program, he’s going to be a guy that is not unlike Malcolm Sheppard and Adrian Davis. Teams are going to have to account for him. He is a really solid pass rusher. He’s not where he needs to be in the run game yet so he is comparable to where Adrian Davis was. He’s learning how to play with his pad level. He’s going to be a really fine football player as time goes on."
