Two titles for Miseviciute on final day

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. Senior Aurelija Miseviciute claimed two of four flights for the University of Arkansas Razorback women’s tennis team during Sunday’s final day of the William & Mary Tribe Invitational.

Miseviciute defended her No.1 rank in a straight set win, 6-0, 6-1, over No. 84 Beier Ko from Harvard, claiming the singles Flight A crown.

It was Miseviciute’s second title of the day after she and Nanar Airapetian were named co-champions of Flight A doubles with teammates Ela Kaluder and Anouk Tigu.

Freshman Emily Carbone is quickly beginning to display her talent on the collegiate level with her second flight title during the fall season, 6-2, 6-1, over Boston College’s Katharine Attwell.

Carbone is now 7-0 overall for the season in singles competition.

In consolation action, Carbone and Kate Lukomskaya claimed a win in doubles over Penn State’s Lauren McCarthy and Maria Prishlyak, 8-5. The sophomore Tigu dropped Julie Backmore from Ohio State, 6-3, 6-3, for third-place in Flight B.

The Razorbacks finish their incredible weekend in Virginia with an overall record of 25-5 and winning three flights.

Arkansas will be back in action on Sept. 27 in Los Angeles, Calif. at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Stay tuned to ARKANSASRAZORBACKS.COM this week for a more updated schedule of play.
