VanFossen and Podojil named to USC All-America Third Team

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Razorback Soccer made program history once again on Thursday, placing two players on the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team. Junior defender Haley Van Fossen and freshman forward Anna Podojil picked up the honors after being named to the All-Southeast Region First Team earlier in the week.

Van Fossen, a member of the MAC Herman Award Watch List, became just the third Razorback in program history to be named to the All-SEC First Team in back-to-back seasons. The Broken Arrow, Okla. native also was the program’s first player to be named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year while anchoring a defense that ranked seventh in the nation in goals-against-average (0.466) and second in the conference in shutout percentage (0.565).

Podojil also became a program first, earning Freshman of the Year honors from SEC coaches. The rookie was one of four Razorbacks to be awarded All-SEC First Team, leading the team with 14 goals which tied third nationally among freshmen. The Cincinnati, Ohio native also dished out seven assists this season and netted a hat trick against Mississippi State on Oct. 13.
