Women’s Tennis Set to Host No. 12 Auburn and No. 50 Alabama

 

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – The No. 57 Arkansas women’s tennis team is set to host its final two regular-season matches at home this weekend. The Razorbacks (9-10, 3-7) will welcome Auburn on Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m. CT and Alabama on Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m. CT to Billingsley Tennis Center for a pair of conference matches.

Arkansas dropped two close matches in league play last weekend, falling at South Carolina (4-3) and Florida (5-2). Freshman Carolina Gomez extended her win streak to four, earning a ranked win over South Carolina’s No. 16 Sarah Hamner to move up to No. 49 in the latest ITA Rankings.

No. 12 Auburn (16-5, 6-3) went 2-0 last weekend, defeating No. 49 Kentucky and No. 35 Vanderbilt on the road. In the win over Vanderbilt, Ariana Arseneault clinched the victory for her fourth straight win in singles play. In doubles, Auburn’s top ranked No. 20 Arsenault/Ansari sealed the doubles point once again for the Tigers in their second straight doubles win.

The Crimson Tide (11-8, 4-5) split their matches last time out, falling to Vanderbilt then earning a win over Kentucky. It was Anne Marie Hiser on court five who clinched the win to improve to 8-4 overall this season. Alabama has one ranked doubles duo in No.42 Hiser and Loudmilla Bencheikh. The duo is 5-5 this dual season and 3-4 on court one.
