FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas is back in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years as the Razorbacks were selected Monday afternoon to host Memphis in the first round of competition on Friday, Nov. 11 at Razorback Field with kickoff set to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT.

This will be the first time in school history Arkansas has been selected to host an NCAA Tournament women’s soccer opening-round match.

Having a top-20 RPI currently at No. 18 in the nation, placing third in the regular season in the Southeastern Conference and finishing as runners-up in the SEC Tournament, as well as notching wins against top-20 RPI teams Duke and Florida in the regular season, ensured Arkansas a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

The Razorbacks are 17-5-0 overall and 8-3-0 in conference play.

“It feels good to be back. This team has been a blast to be around,” Hale said. “Anytime you have the opportunity to play for a national championship, it’s exciting. Hosting makes it special. That is a first for the program and has been a goal from the start. We like our team and look forward to playing a very good Memphis team.”

Overall, six SEC teams were selected to advance to postseason play, the ninth time in the last 10 seasons the conference has had at least six teams in the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to Arkansas, three SEC schools will also host their opening round match on their home field: South Carolina will host Alabama State, Florida Gulf Coast will visit Florida and South Alabama will travel to Auburn.

The Razorbacks competed in their first NCAA Tournament in program history in 2013, defeating Oklahoma State 2-1 in the first round, St. John’s 1-0 in the second round and falling to Duke on penalty kicks in the Sweet 16.

Arkansas would return to Tournament play the following year in a back-to-back effort, defeating Oklahoma 3-2 in overtime, but falling to No. 3 Stanford 1-0.
