FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team is looking for its fourth consecutive, and fifth overall, Southeastern Conference victory traveling to Gainesville, Florida, for a Sunday afternoon contest with the Gators.

The Razorbacks (15-5, 4-2 SEC) have won three league games in a row after Thursday night’s 72-61 victory over Alabama. The Gators (5-14, 1-5 SEC) played well in their loss to No. 6 Mississippi State and will be looking to rebound on their home court.

The Razorbacks’ success this year is due to talented players and a coaching staff who can mix things up to match their opponents. Arkansas moved between man defense and a 2-3 zone to keep Alabama off balance and out of the paint in its most recent game.

The approach against Florida will have to adapt to the perimeter as the Gators rank among the league leaders in 3-point field goals. They are second in attempts, third in makes per game and fourth in made 3-point baskets in the SEC.

Arkansas, who is also a good 3-point shooting team, will rely on its long-distance defense which ranks fourth in the SEC with the Razorbacks allowing opponents to shoot just 29% from beyond the arc.

An Arkansas win would be big for the program. The Razorbacks have already surpassed last year’s win total and are currently tied for third place in the SEC standings. A victory could push them up a spot joining South Carolina with five wins.
