Regional Final Up Next for Razorbacks

The Gymbacks continue their postseason run and have a chance to punch a ticket to nationals with home gym advantage, as Arkansas is set to compete in Saturday’s NCAA regional final at Bud Walton Arena.

Arkansas, seeded 10th, will square off against No. 2 LSU, No. 7 Kentucky and No. 15 Minnesota and look to finish as one of the top two teams who receive a berth to the NCAA Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas April 18-29.

The Gymbacks had a hot start to regionals as they won the afternoon session of the semifinals and placed second across both sessions, only behind LSU. It was the best finish for the program since the regional format changed to eight teams in 2019 and the highest in any regional since 2018. Arkansas scored 197.325 as a team, a new program regional record.

Saturday’s regional final appearance will be the first for the Gymbacks since 2022, and the third in head coach Jordyn Wieber’s tenure.

Two of the three opponents are extra familiar to Arkansas, LSU and Kentucky are SEC foes. The Tigers defeated the Razorbacks head-to-head in the regular season in Baton Rouge, while the Hogs have taken down the Wildcats in both contests this year, both also in Fayetteville. LSU and Kentucky finished ahead of Arkansas at SEC Championships.

The Gymbacks last saw the Golden Gophers in 2023, when the two competed in Bud Walton Arena in Arkansas’ regular season finale. The visitors came out on top, 197.075-196.900.

As the third-highest NQS of the session, Arkansas gets a huge advantage as it will rotate in Olympic order on the day: vault, bars, beam, and floor, ending on the Gymbacks’ best event.

Tickets for the regional final are still available through the Razorback Ticket Center, and doors will open at 3:30 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena. Those following from home can tune in live through ESPN+, and live stats will be provided via Virtius.
