Simeon Hinsey - Women's Basketball - Arkansas Razorbacks

Simeon Hinsey

Simeon Hinsey joined the University of Arkansas athletic department in 2012 in the office of student-athlete success. He moved to the Razorback women’s basketball program in the fall of 2013 as the director of external operations and student-athlete development and changed roles in the spring of 2014 becoming the Director of Student-Athlete Development.

In his position, Hinsey mentors student-athletes, serves as the liaison with compliance and academics, coordinates the team’s community service efforts, manages the program’s recruiting website, and oversees the leadership and life skills program. Hinsey is also in charge of coordinating game contracts and assists with on campus recruiting and managing summer camps. Hinsey spent the 2014-15 season as an interim assistant coach in Jimmy Dykes’ first season.

Prior to assuming the role with Razorback women’s basketball, Hinsey worked with the Office of Student-Athlete Success while pursuing his doctorate degree in sport management. He completed his coursework in the spring of 2014 and is currently working on his dissertation, which focuses on the career maturity and athletic identity of female collegiate basketball players.

Hinsey was born in Nassau, Bahamas and moved to Fayetteville, Ark., when he was 15. He graduated from Fayetteville Christian High School and moved on to compete for John Brown University’s basketball team on athletic scholarship. In 2002, he graduated from JBU with a double major in digital media and broadcasting after completing his playing career with 1,183 career points, 409 assists ranking third overall, and 143 steals ranking second overall in JBU men’s basketball history. Hinsey was also a two-time team best defensive player and hustle award honoree.

After JBU, Hinsey moved on to a career in the media industry working for CBS Affiliate KFSM-TV for several years. During that time, he earned his masters of science in sports management from California University of Pennsylvania.

Hinsey returned to JBU in 2006 serving in several roles including Sports Information Director, Director of Intramurals, Adjunct Professor of Health and Wellness, and Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations.

Hinsey has also worked numerous basketball camps and clinics throughout the region including Jimmy Dykes, Tom Collen, Mike Anderson, John Sheehy, and Arkansas Athletes Outreach basketball camps. He is also a member of the Arkansas Coaches Association and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Hinsey lives in Springdale with his wife, Stephanie, an assistant principal at Elmdale Elementary in Springdale, and two children, Samuel and Seth.
