Tigers Up Next for Gymbacks in Auburn

SEC Network Live Stats Meet Notes

The Arkansas gymnastics team opens its SEC road slate with a dual meet against the Auburn Tigers in Auburn on Friday night.

Both the Hogs and Tigers are looking for a victory, as each suffered losses in week two: Arkansas to Alabama and Auburn to Florida. The Razorbacks are currently ranked No. 25 overall, the Tigers check in at No. 7.

The meet begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on SEC Network, Arkansas’ second of three straight meets on the channel. John Roethlisberger and Bridget Sloan will be on the call for Friday Night Heights, with Taylor Davis reporting from the sidelines.

Last Time Out

Despite a big push in the final two rotations, the Hogs fell to the Crimson Tide in the team’s home opener, 195.525-196.525. While the team didn’t pull out a victory, the Hogs did outscore Alabama on three events: vault (49.150), beam (49.325) and floor (49.350). Graduate transfer Norah Flatley shined in her Barnhill Arena debut, and won the vault and beam titles, along with a share of bars. It was her first all-around appearance as a Gymback, and she placed first with a 39.575. Junior Jensen Scalzo shared the bars top spot with Flatley as both scored 9.900, and for the second consecutive week freshman and Rogers native Lauren Williams took the bars title, with her first 9.900 mark at Arkansas.

Scouting the Series: Auburn

  • Arkansas’ last visit to Auburn in 2021 resulted in a win for the Hogs, and Arkansas also set a new program score record of 197.425 in the meet
  • The teams both currently have top 10 all-around competitors, Auburn’s Sunisa Lee at No. 5 and Arkansas’ Norah Flatley at No. 8. Auburn is currently ranked in the top 10 in all events, and the closest between the two is balance beam, in which the Tigers are No. 7 and the Hogs are No. 11
  • Suni Lee and Arkansas assistant coach Kyla Ross are the only women currently coaching or competing who have Olympic, world championship, and NCAA golds
