Volleyball Treats Home Crowd to 3-0 Win vs. LSU
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Behind a balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive presence at the net, the University of Arkansas volleyball team posted its second-consecutive sweep Wednesday evening with a win over LSU at Barnhill Arena. The Razorbacks posted an SEC-season high .376 hitting percentage while holding LSU to a .010 efficiency behind 12.5 total team blocks. With the victory, Arkansas improves to 16-9 overall with a 6-7 marks in SEC play.

Pilar Victoria led all players with 13 kills and added a team-high eight digs in the win. For the second-consecutive match, Danielle Harbin found herself in double figures with 10 kills on a .529 hitting percentage. In the middle, Breana Jones tallied a .462 hitting percentage with eight kills and a career-high eight total blocks. Running the offensive show, setter Adrien Wohlschlaeger dished out 33 assists to go along with seven digs of her own.
The first set was tied at 11-all when the Razorbacks rattled off five of the next six points for a 16-12 advantage after a kill by Victoria. A triple block by Wohlschlaeger, Barbara Dapic and Ana Sofia Jusino pushed the lead to 21-15 and forced LSU (9-15, 5-8 SEC) to use its second timeout of the set. On the team’s third chance to close out the opening set, Dapic split the block for one of her five kills on the night.
Much like the first set, the score was tied—this time at 6-6—when the Razorbacks surged ahead with a seven-point run behind the serve of libero Okiana Valle. After LSU broke the string of points with a kill, the home team responded with six-straight points to cushion its lead, and after a Harbin-Jones tandem block, Arkansas was ahead 19-7. Jusino registered a solo block to give the Razorbacks set point at 24-9. An attack error by the Tigers sent Arkansas into halftime with a 2-0 lead in the match.
After a back-and-forth start to the third frame, the Razorbacks turned a one-point advantage into a 14-9 lead after back-to-back miscues by the visitors. Arkansas pushed its lead to seven at 22-15 after Harbin and Jones had another tandem block. The duo teamed up for five total blocks against LSU. The Tigers saved two match points before Harbin found the floor for her 10th kill of the night to clinch the sweep. She finished the night with six total blocks to go along with her offensive output.
Wednesday’s match marked the beginning of a three-match home stand for the Razorbacks. The team returns to its home floor Sunday afternoon to host Georgia with first serve scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CT) at Barnhill Arena. It is the only meeting between the two teams this season. Arkansas holds a 21-9 advantage in the all-time series and has its last five matches against the Bulldogs.
