Arkansas Spring Invitational opens home outdoor season

FAYETTEVILLE – The Razorbacks host their first outdoor meet of the season with the Arkansas Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 6, at John McDonnell Field.

The 12 visiting schools include Indian Hills (Iowa) CC, Kansas City, Missouri Western, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Rogers State, Southwest Baptist, Tulsa, and Wichita State.

This will be the first of three meets the Razorbacks host during the outdoor season prior to the NCAA West First Rounds on May 22-25. Arkansas home meets include the John McDonnell Invitational (April 18-19) and Arkansas Twilight (May 3).

This week Track & Field News published its first formchart for the NCAA Outdoor Championships and they have predicted a national team title for the Razorbacks. In scoring the meet, T&F News has Arkansas winning with 52 points over LSU (49), Florida (41), USC (41), and Texas (40).

Amber Anning, predicted to win the 400m title outdoors after her indoor victory, will race in the 200m on Saturday. Razorbacks in the event include Kaylyn Brown, Ashanti Denton, Rosey Effiong, Ariane Linton, Nickisha Pryce, and Joanne Reid.

Racing in the 100m are Denton, Effiong, Ariane Linton, Reid, and Nia Robinson. The 400m line-up includes Analisse Batista, Sanu Jallow, LilliAnn Nunley, and Aaliyah Pyatt.

Arkansas alum Ackera Nugent is scheduled to race in the 100m hurdles and 200m while Paris Peoples is entered in the 400m.

Four Razorbacks in the pole vault include Lauren Carpenter, Hannas Estes, Rachel Homoly, and Bailee Wooten. Sydney Billington is entered in the high jump. Sara Van Aken will contest three field events – long jump, shot put, and javelin.

The distance crew will contest three events – 800m, 1,500m, and 3,000m. Brooklyn Biancamano and Lanie Meeks will race in the 800m. An Invitational 800m will include Mary Ellen Eudaly, Chaci Gonzales, Tiana LoStracco, and Mia Cochran.

The 1,500m includes Ainsley Erzen, Heidi Nielson, Paityn Noe, Cochran, Mackenzie Rogers, Laura Taborda, and Sydney Thorvaldson. Nielson will also race in the 3,000m.

Miramar Invitational

A group of Arkansas alums will be racing in the Miramar Invitational held in Florida on Saturday, April 6.

Britton Wilson and Shamier Little will compete in the 400m while Shafiqua Maloney races over 600m. Taliyah Brooks contests the long jump while the 100m will include Jada Baylark and Kiara Parker.
